Description: This pro bono project was a perfect opportunity to satisfy my interests in photography, history and the Web. Walter C. Richards was an amateur photographer who captured unique images at the St. Louis 1904 World’s Fair. The Webster Groves Historical Society was given these rare images and needed a way to share them with the public. An online gallery was a perfect solution, so I created a mini-site that showcases eighty of the best images. The site is included as part of the Missouri State Library’s digitized collections, www.virtuallymissouri.org.
Responsibilities: Edited the collection from over two hundred and fifty images to eighty. Scanned and corrected the images for brightness and contrast. Designed the site, developed the Flash and incorporated the Zoomify image zoom components into the image presentation. (Zoomify donated their product.) Received permission to use period music as background sound. Achieved getting the State of Missouri to include the collection as part of their digized collection Web portal, Virtually Missouri.Org
